Semming Austin
Since November 2008, Semming Austin has served asmanaging director of BankID Operasjonell Forvalter based in Oslo, Norway.
The Norwegian BankID Scheme is an electronic ID and service that offers secure electronic identification and signatures on Internet. BankID has been developed by the banks in Norway for use by private persons, authorities and companies. Within this scheme, BankID Operasjonell Forvalter handles management of the overall operations related to the issuing and use of BankID.
Prior to joining BankID Operasjonell Forvalter, Mr. Austin was assistant director in the Interbank Settlement Department of the Financial Stability Wing of Norges Bank (Norway’s central bank). During his career at Norges Bank, Mr Austin held various management positions related to the central bank’s IT functions, and has also been a senior project manager. From 2000 to 2003, he worked on projects that served as a background for, and in 2003 culminated with, the implemented outsourcing of IT for Norway’s real time gross settlement system (RTGS). He subsequently was the head of the team in Norges Bank that manages the relationship with external and internal IT suppliers related to RTGS. From 2006, he was head of the RTGS business function within the Interbank Settlement Department at Norges Bank.
Mr Austin earned his BSc in business administration from the University of South Carolina in 1991. In 2000, he received an MSc in management of information systems from the London School of Economics.
