Berlin Announced For ISSE 2010 Following Success In The Hague
Information Security Solutions Europe (ISSE), Europe’s largest independent IT security and identity conference, today confirmed that the 12th annual event will take place in Berlin, Germany, 5th – 7th October.
The announcement follows the success of ISSE 2009 in The Hague, The Netherlands, which saw over 350 delegates unite to extensively debate and exchange knowledge on IT security and electronic identity issues.
This year, delegates at ISSE 2009 benefited from the expertise of over 80 guest speakers, session hosts and panel members from some of the world’s largest and leading companies, organisations and governments. Topics from the programme included Identity Management, Data Protection, Social Engineering, Large Scale Public Applications, Cloud Computing and Data Loss Prevention.
The opening plenary at the conference welcomed the Vice Mayor and Alderman for International Affairs at The Municipality of The Hague, Frits Huffnagel, as well as Head of Technical Competency Department at the European Network and Information Security Agency (ENISA), Steve Purser, who called for greater awareness of information security through an active security community and a push on education across Europe. Delegates also heard from the Deputy Head of the EC information society and media directorate, Andrea Servida, who encouraged collaboration between industry and government to build resilience into software and systems to fight information security threats.
ISSE 2009 was selected by the syndicate of KPMG, Everett and independent European e-Identity and security association, eema, to announce the findings of a new survey of Identity & Access Management (IAM) use in Europe. Associate Partner at KPMG, John Hermans, crucially revealed that although a quarter of respondents reported significant budget cuts on IAM projects (which allow employees secure permissions-based access to corporate networks) a vast majority of the organisations surveyed have implemented IAM in the last year.
Executive Director of conference partner eema, Roger Dean, comments, “ISSE has been the primary forum for finding out the latest developments in information security trends and technologies for 11 years. Delegate and sponsor feedback from The Hague has been extremely positive, with many visitors going away with best practice information and valuable insight into threats as well as opportunities to continue to keep organisations, governments and citizens secure. We look forward to doing it all again in Berlin next year.”
ISSE 2009 also saw the Spanish Savings Banks Confederation (CECA) awarded with the TeleTrusT Innovation Award. Accepted by Deputy CEO of Caja de Avila, Mr. José Luis Martín Velayos and Cooperation CIO of CECA, Mr. Santiago Uriel Arias, CECA won for its Digitalized signature for financial sector branches project.
Regular partners eema, ENISA and non-profit ICT organisation TeleTrust will again come together for ISSE 2010, providing a rich and thought-provoking, unbiased programme for Berlin. ISSE is a must-visit event for anyone wishing to learn more about the latest developments in corporate and government security and identity management.
ISSE 2010 will take place 5th – 7th October in Berlin, Germany. Further information on the conference programme, conference venue, registration fees and how you can attend next year will be made available at www.isse.eu.com.
