Symantec and The Solum Group Receive eema’s Highest Accolade the 2007 Award For Excellence in Secure Electronic Business
eema, TeleTrusT and NASK Reward Excellence and Innovation in IT Security at ISSE/SECURE 2007 Conference In Warsaw, Poland
eema, the Independent European e-Identity & Security Association, today announced that Symantec together with The Solum Group has won its highest accolade, the eema Award for Excellence in Secure Electronic Business. The eema award is one of three major security industry awards presented at the 9th annual ISSE (Information Security Solutions Europe) conference in Warsaw, Poland.
Voted for by an International judging panel, the eema award is amongst the information security industries most coveted. It was presented at ISSE to Carsten Klitgaard Villumsen, CIO of the Scandinavian environmental company, The Solum Group, in the presence of over 400 delegates from around the world. The Executive Director of eema, Roger Dean, stated during the ceremony, “This award is reserved exclusively for a vendor and user relationship that together demonstrate a tangible benefit from a compelling information security project. Symantec and The Solum Group are very worthy winners.”
Using the Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.0 threat protection solution (that includes antivirus, antispyware, firewall, IPS, device control and network access control capabilities), The Solum Group offices in Norway, Denmark and Sweden defend its desktops, servers and laptops from threats, attacks, malware and other potentially damaging security problems.
Working together with Symantec is also helping The Solum Group to maximise productivity and efficiency, whilst reducing the cost of managing its information security. As Villumsen explained in his acceptance address, “We’re aiming to increase our manpower by 20% in the next 12 months and the number of hosts is expected to double in the same period. Using Symantec Endpoint Protection we will not need any extra staff to manage this growth.”
Also during the ISSE presentation ceremony TeleTrusT, the non-profit making association that promotes the trustworthiness of information and communication technology in an open systems environment, recognised the work of the Barcelona-based manufacturer of PKI technology, SAFELAYER, with its Innovation Award, acknowledging its TrustedX product, an XML based trusted services platform that makes Enterprise Trust Integration possible.
Later in the evening at the ISSE gala dinner, held at the spectacular Ujazdowski Castle, Dr. Maciej Koz?owski, President of NASK (Research and Academic Computer Network) presented the online bookstore www.merlin.pl with The Professor Tomasz Hofmokl NASK Award, named in honour of the famous Polish scientist, recognising Merlin’s contribution in promoting the idea of an information society.
